Every artist comes with their own unique story. Exhibitions are chances to see their artistic vision come to life, at a specific moment in time. For Mary Lowery, also known as Artistic Rain, an exhibition provides not only a chance to share her art, but also the community and experiences which are inherent in her vision.

Lowery is passionate about the role of art in her life. “At a young age, my love for art blossomed rapidly,” she said. Her mother would buy her coloring books when she was sick, allowing her to learn through practice, which led to freelance work when she got older. She continued to hone her craft, evolving as a self-taught artist. Life intervened when she became a single mother raising five children, keeping her busy. “I stopped creating,” she said. “Dealing with the curveballs life was throwing, I would dabble a little here and there with artworks but nothing major.”

Despite not having time to paint, she continued to create in her mind, thinking of potential subjects and inspiration. “I remember one day I saw a vision of twelve men in clouds. It sparked something in me, so I painted the picture,” Lowery said. “It gave me such peace. I kept going, creating little by little until I began to paint on a regular basis.”

Painting is an immersive experience for Lowery, encompassing creativity, spirituality, and connections. “Creating is an unexplainable release,” she explained. “I sometimes start my mornings with Christian worship music which gives me prophetic visions from God. I detach from my phone, tv, and social media. In that moment it's the vision, my brush, and the canvas.”

Translating her visions to the physical space allows Lowery to share her understanding with others, as well as express her own journey. “I've been through a lot of things,” she reflected. “I want my work to help someone else with their own pain or traumas. My paintings are derived from so many ups and downs. In the end, it’s all left on the canvas.”

Creating an exhibition will allow Lowery to bring her artworks to the public, expressing the passion which inform every work in a shared space. “During the pandemic I went through a lot of personal things, and my collection expanded as I used art to help with healing,” she said. “I'm now ready to share the painted experiences which will definitely captivate an art lover's soul as they walk through the curated collective.”

Lowery's motto is “Visualize & Believe,” which is central to this solo exhibition. “I believe every person has inner creativity,” she said. “My purpose is to help you explore the creativity inside of you and believe in yourself when viewing my works.” Lowery believes in the power of art to rejuvenate, healing traumas using artistic expression and shared connections. “I love to show people how to use art by wrapping themselves in the works and letting go.”

The exhibition is more than simply an art show. “I’m hoping my art will spark conversations about life, healing, and change through the experience,” Lowery said. She is creating an event that is for the whole family, with crafts for kids, refreshments, raffles, and entertainment. Bringing together her artworks in one space will let visitors experience the emotions which inspired them, feelings of peace and healing, inspiring conversation and reflection. “Some may even see themselves in the paintings,” she said, “like a mirror peeking into their soul. Hopefully it resonates something inside of them to want to explore their hidden creativity.”

Lowery’s vivid artworks spark the imagination, expressing her journey via paint and canvas. “I've been through a lot, especially the last couple years,” she said. “It took me a while to bounce back.” One piece in particular reflects that struggle. “In Her Flow represents how I was able to bounce back through the difficulties I experienced,” Lowery explained. “The colors represent joy, sadness, peace, and excitement. It embodies how I was able to stand through it all! I'm moving forward, in my flow!”

This exhibition is a celebration which invites the community to share in Lowery’s artistic vision and enthusiasm. “Everyone has creativity inside of them,” she said. “Community-based projects allow like-minded individuals to share freethought in a safe space.” Creating those spaces is important today, allowing people to connect and communicate. “There's a serene level of peace by letting your brush and canvas flow together,” Lowery added. “It gives a different message to your soul. My art classes, events, and exhibitions will always provide a safe space for people, families, and communities to work together cohesively.”
